Claudine E. Copeland, age 92 of Malvern, died peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018 in Hot Springs. She was born in Beaton, Arkansas on December 16, 1925 to the late Leonard Winson and Fannie Looper Sanders. Reared and educated in Bismarck, she had been a resident of Malvern since 1956. Claudine was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her good humor, kindness, gentleness, sweet smile, and loving spirit. All who knew her agreed she was the epitome of class. Claudine was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, Malvern, where she attended the John Lindsay Sunday School Class. She was also very active in the United Methodist Women. A true servant of God, for many years she delivered Meals on Wheels. She was the widow of the late Clarence Copeland, to whom she was married on September 10, 1942. He preceded her in death in January, 2009. She is survived by a son, Ricky Copeland and his wife Mona of Maumelle; a daughter, Jane Ann Copeland of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Lindsey Thomas and her husband Nathan of Conway, and Nicholas Copeland of Little Rock; and one great-granddaughter, Anistyn Clare Thomas. Claudine was also preceded in death by an infant son, Edward Lyn Copeland, and a brother, Lloyd Sanders. Visitation will be held Monday evening, March 5, 2018, from six until eight o'clock at J. A. Funk Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Tuesday morning at ten o'clock in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Bruce Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaton Cemetery near Bismarck. Pallbearers are: Nicholas Copeland, Arlo Copeland, Nathan Thomas, Eddie Looper, Calvin Looper, and John Allan Funk. Honorary pallbearers are: LaVon Post and the staff of Lake Hamilton Health and Rehab. Memorials may take the form of contributions to First United Methodist Church, Malvern, or Beaton Church, in care of Eddie Looper, 108 Hanover Road, Bismarck, Ark., 71929.
