Constance M. "Connie" Albert, 79, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Barrow Creek Health and Rehab in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her positive spirit was an inspiring hallmark of her valiant battle with an illness. Born June 25, 1938, in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Gerard A. and Edna Paula (Titscher) Achterberg. Connie was also preceded in death by her brother, Gerard A. "Jerry" Achterberg. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, Carson J. Albert of Hot Springs; son, Cameron C. Albert and daughter-in-law Rejeana Albert of Little Rock; daughter, Diane C. McDonald and son-in-law Scott McDonald of Lexington, Kentucky; sister, Christin Austin (George) of Afton, New York; five grandchildren, Caleb Albert, Hannah Holladay (Robbie), Rebecca Albert of Little Rock, Ashlea McDonald and Nicholas McDonald of Lexington, Kentucky; and one great-granddaughter. Connie was the first in her family to graduate from college, earning a BSBA in accounting from Rider University in New Jersey. She graduated high school in Harpursville, New York. In 1971, Connie moved to Hot Springs to raise her family and work in various accounting positions. She retired from Keith Smith Company in 2010. Connie enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, and bridge. She was a member of the Bridge House of Hot Springs. Connie served as president, treasurer, and membership chairman of The Friends of the Hot Springs Public Library and board member and treasurer of The Literacy Council of Garland County, where she was made an honorary board member in 2017. A celebration of Connie's life will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Grenier officiating. Refreshments will follow the service.
