William H. "Bill" Schulze Sr., 91, of Conway, passed away on February 26, 2018. Bill was born on November 22, 1926 in Houston, Texas, to Herbert H. Schulze, Sr., and Ethel Bernice Kincaid Schulze. Bill grew up in Dover, Arkansas. He entered the University of Arkansas in the fall semester on a football scholarship, but left college to join the United States Marine Corps. He attended the Marine Corp's Japanese Language school at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. He served in China after the war ended. After his service, he returned to school. He married Janice R. Tilley while in school. He graduated from the University of Tulsa School of Law in 1951. He worked for Mid- Continent Oil Company and Gulf Oil Corporation. In 1956 he moved back to Russellville, Arkansas. He practiced law in Russellville, Arkansas, where he served as Municipal Judge, until 1974, when he accepted an appointment as an Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration. He served in Macon, Georgia, Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, New Orleans, Louisiana, and finally Little Rock, Arkansas. He retired in 1997, but returned as a Senior ALJ in 2002 and 2003. After the death of his first wife, he married Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Wyatt in 1988. After retirement, Bill returned to school and studied music. He wrote and performed songs. He also wrote his memoir, Evolution of my Thoughts, which remains available on Amazon Kindle. Bill was a Renaissance man. He was civic minded. He was an avid Razorback football fan. He was an accomplished amateur carpenter and potter. He believed that a life dedicated to moral principles in worthy regardless of the motivation. He was a member of numerous civic and professional organizations. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Herbert H. Schulze, Jr; younger brother, James "Jim" Kincaid; his first wife, Janice Tilley Schulze; and one daughter, Amy Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth "Libby' Schulze; his sons, James Gerard "Gerry" Schulze (Helena) and William H. "Bumpsie" Schulze, Jr. (Kitty); daughter, Cynthia Karen Curiel (Ray; six grandchildren, Jason Jones, Candace Eve Barns, Christopher Schulze, Jeremy Schulze, Benjamin Schulze, Eden Schulze; and six great-grandchildren, Cosmo, Ellie, Andrew, Jason, Jr., Silas and Owen. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Funeral Home, 7401 Hwy 5 North, Alexander, Arkansas.
