Charles D. McCauley

Charles D. McCauley, 52, passed away on Sunday March 4 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. He served as Fine Arts Administrator and Director of Bands for Sulphur Springs ISD. Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday March 10 at the Sulpher Springs High School gym. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. at the same location. Charles was born March 8, 1965, in Hope, Arkansas, the son of J. Matt and Mary McCauley. He married Diana Tillery on April 2, 1988 in Malvern, Arkansas. He graduated from Henderson State University with a Bachelor of Music Education which he turned into a decades-long dedication to a career as a high school band director. Charles' passion for music and his devotion to his students is being recounted beautifully by current and former students on his Facebook page. He was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs. He is survived by his wife, Diana of Sulphur Springs, Texas; son, William McCauley of Sulphur Springs, Texas; mother, Mary McCauley, Sherwood; sister, Anita McCauley Murrell, North Little Rock; brother, Thomas McCauley (Sharon), Houston, Texas; nephew to whom he was a principal father figure, Dan Murrell, Los Angeles, Calif.; one niece, four nephews and two step-nieces. He was preceded in death by his father. Everyone who knew Charlie, or "Mr. Mac" as he was known by his students, will remember him for his humor, hard work, infectious laugh, love of the Razorbacks and his commitment to what he valued most in life – his family, his students and his community.
