Shirley June Muzny, 82, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away March 2, 2018. She was born June 18, 1935 in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and was the youngest daughter of 9 to the late William and Ethel Pearl Holeman. Soon after meeting at Spring Lake Amusement Park in Oklahoma City, Shirley married the love of her life, Ralph Muzny on March 8, 1952. They shared 65 years of marriage and have truly lived a full life together, building a legacy of love that is unlike any other. Together, they raised their family and started their furniture business, Arkansas Furniture, in Hot Springs, Ark., where Shirley worked the books and was a meticulous record keeper. Above all else, Shirley loved and was proud of her "beautiful family." By the age of 22 she was a devoted mother of 5, as well as a foster mother to numerous babies who she lovingly welcomed into her already full home. She never missed an opportunity to dote on her own children as well as her 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Those who knew her best would describe her as strong, resilient, encouraging, and hard-working. Shirley was greatly involved in her community, as an active member of Welcome Women. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, playing card games, her 2 cats, chocolate milkshakes (made only with vanilla ice cream), shopping at Dillard's, decorating, and spending time outdoors making fires and planting beautiful flowers. In addition to her husband, Ralph Muzny of Hot Springs, Ark., and sister, Ethel Arterburn of Bethany, Okla., Shirley leaves behind son, Mike Muzny of Hot Springs, Ark., and daughters, Teresa Zeigler of Broken Arrow, Okla., Janie Bozeman of Goleta, Calif., and Cathy Buckmaster of Cabot, Ark. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Ralph Jr. "Sonny" Muzny of Williamsville, Mo. A celebration of life will be held in her honor on 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at the Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with a reception following at the Forest Lakes Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please send donations to the UAMS Cancer Institute (https://cancer.uams.edu) or your local animal shelter. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
