Steven Randolph Gage, 64 of Ozark, Arkansas died Thursday, March 1, 2018 at his home. He was a man of faith who was devoted to his family, friends, and the entire city of Ozark. Steven knew that God had blessed him. He was a humble man who appreciated the beauty of life, despite the hardships that come with it. He lived his life as a servant, putting others before himself, whether it was caring for his first and second wives, both of whom died after long illnesses, or supporting his friends, his church, and community. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Ozark. Steven was born February 20, 1954 in Ozark to Travis, Sr. and Gelene Cannon Gage. He was preceded in death by his wives, Gail Treat Gage and Janet Zeiler Gage; and his parents. Steven is survived by two sons, Jeremiah Gage and wife Ginger of Loveland, Colorado, and Dr. Justin Gage and wife Kristen of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two step sons, Alex and Aaron Smith both of Van Buren, Arkansas; two brothers, Travis Gage Jr. and wife Connie of Ozark, Ricky Gage and wife Wanda also of Ozark; two sisters, Mary Gage Woods and husband Mike of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Anna Gage of Ozark; and one grandchild, Wyatt Gage of Loveland, Colorado. Steven graduated from Ozark High School in 1972 and attended Arkansas Tech University from 1972 to 1976. Steven had an inquiring mind, he loved history, reading, and was a man of many talents. A music lover, he played guitar and sang. He was an expert home chef, he passed down his love of food to his sons and was a certified judge by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. He taught Arkansas Hunter Education for many years. Typical in the Gage family, Steven grew up playing every sport. He won five "Pass, Punt, Kick" competitions as a youngster and played softball throughout his post-high school life, including with the infamous Shaffer Funeral Home softball team. Steven was a life-long Ozark Hillbilly fan and supporter. He was the voice of the Ozark Hillbillies for over thirty years on KDYN Radio. He spent much of his free-time on the Hillbilly Foundation, an organization he founded to help fund Ozark youth athletics. Steven was also loved by many in his professional life and he made friends across the world. He was considered an expert in the field of oil and natural gas measurement and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experience with others. He was well-published in the oil and natural gas industry and an executive committee member of the International School of Hydrocarbon Measurement. He was hired by Arkansas Western Gas in 1985 and spent the rest of life working in the industry. Steven traveled extensively. He loved loading his family in the van for summer trips across the American West. He visited far-off places, from Bangkok to Bastogne, toured World War II battlefields, and made three trips to his uncle Junior Cannon's WWII gravesite located in Margraten, The Netherlands. He was buried at Highland Cemetery on March 6 in between his first wife Gail, who died in 2001, and his second wife Janet, who died in 2007, and he will rest in the town he grew up in, surrounded by the people he loved so much.
