Jean "Jeangirl" Collette Nichols, 53, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 8, 2018. She was a 1982 graduate of Parkview High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Jean graduated from Philander Smith College with a B.S. in Psychology. After graduation, she began working for the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS). After a stint with DHS, Jean began a lengthy career at the Arkansas State Police Child Abuse Hotline. She was later employed with the Arkansas Democrat Gazette until her untimely demise. Jean accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Mercy Seat Baptist Church. Jean was preceded in death by her son, Jaime Nichols, mother, Sylvia A. Nichols and sister, Karita "Sisi" Evelyn Nichols. Her presence will be missed by her father, James Nichols; brothers, Victor, James (Valarie) Nichols of Little Rock, Greg (Sandra) Nichols of Sherwood, and Vance (Susan) Nichols of Springdale; sisters, Jasyl Nichols of Little Rock, and Karisa "Mimi" (Derrick) Allmon of Maumelle; grandmother, Elizabeth Nichols of Flint, Michigan; godmother, Mrs. Lillian Springer of Little Rock, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jean's life will be held Thursday, March 15, 6 p.m. with viewing at 5 p.m. at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church, 8715 Oman Road in Little Rock. Burial will be Friday morning, March 16 at 10 a.m. at Elmlawn Cemetery. Services entrusted to Robinson Mortuary, 1201 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Little Rock (501) 371-0111.
