Vernon Pittman

Vernon Eugene Pittman, age 93, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, March 10, 2018. He was born October 9, 1924 in Anderson, Arkansas, the son of Adis Verdel Pittman and Ruby Audrey Collie Pittman. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Catherine Franks, who he enjoyed 63 years with her before she died in 2011; his sister, Hazel Lawrence and brother, Jerry Wayne Pittman. He graduated from Oil Trough High School and attended North State Texas State Teachers College in Denton, Texas. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He served in the U. S. Navy as Aviation Machinist's Mate First Class. He and his wife built around 300 homes in the northwest Arkansas area, one being for E. Fay Jones. His love of nature showed in the design of his homes. He always loved seeing his family and having them around him. He is survived by two daughters, Dionne Ullom and her husband Bobby Ullom of Fayettville and Glenda Teresa Elder and her companion David Nicewater of Elkins; two brothers, Vaughn Pittman of Lubbock, Texas and Billy Frank Pittman of Swartz Creek, Michigan; nine grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
