Jack K. Hogan Sr., 88 of West Memphis passed away on March 28, 2018 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Mr. Hogan was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Green and Lucy Belle Yelverton Hogan of Newport, Ark., and by his wife of 63 years Mollie Woodruff Hogan whom he loved dearly. He leaves two sons and one daughter in law, Dan W. Hogan (Phyllis) of Nashville, Tenn., and Jack K. Hogan Jr. of West Memphis; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Hogan of Atlanta, Ga., and Garrison Hogan of Nashville, Tenn. He leaves numerous nieces and nephews as well. Mr. Hogan's 63-year marriage to Mollie included playing bridge, bowling, traveling, and spending time with family until her death in 2014 from cancer. Losing his beloved Mollie was a very difficult time, but his coffee group played a big part in helping him through this tough time. His early life included service to his country in the US Army. He finished his military career in the Army Reserves after 19 years of service. Jack spent over 40 years in the Banking Industry. He started his banking career at the National Bank of Commerce in Memphis. He ended his banking career as President, CEO and Director of the Bank of West Memphis from 1969 to his retirement in 1995. Community service was important and included leadership positions on the West Memphis Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Project, First United Methodist Church and Rotary Club as a Paul Harris Fellow member. Professional Organization service included leadership roles in the Arkansas Bankers Association and the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce. A passionate golfer, he spent many days playing golf with his friends at Meadowbrook Country Club, which led his son, Dan, to be an avid golfer. In addition, his grandson, Garrison, plays college golf as a junior at Furman University in Greenville, S.C. His granddaughter, Elizabeth, is a banker in Atlanta, Ga., following in her grandfather's footsteps as well. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday (Good Friday) beginning at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with burial immediately following at Crittenden Memorial Park. Memorials can be sent to the First Presbyterian Church of West Memphis where Hogan was an active member or to the Habitat of Humanity of Middle Tennessee based in Nashville, Tenn.
