Richard William Boosey Jr., of Mount Vernon, died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of March 18th, on his 77th birthday. Richard was born on Tuesday, March 18, 1941 in Little Rock, Ark., to Richard William Boosey Sr. and Gladys Irene (Burfield) Boosey. After graduating Catholic High School of Little Rock ('59), he went on to Little Rock University, now UALR, to study chemistry, graduating in 1963. After a 35 year career in pharmaceuticals, he and his wife relocated back to Arkansas, where he taught at Bigelow High School, retiring in 2003. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Susan Elizabeth (Hawkins) Boosey. Richard is survived by his two sons: Richard William Boosey III (Rick) and wife, Cindy, of Fayetteville, and James Boosey of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren: Peyton, Madison, Cassandra and Abbigail of Fayetteville; Stephan, Brendan and Christian of Bartlesville, Okla.; four siblings: Harry Boosey of Jackson, Tenn., George Boosey and MJ Pearle of Durham, N.C., Fred Boosey of Little Rock and Anne and Wayne Melvin of Monroe, La. He is also survived by his dear friend, Norma Smothers. Richard was an active member at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Conway, and a Faulkner County Master Gardener. An avid philatelist since the age of ten, he always credited his love of stamps as the beginning of his thirst for learning and knowledge. As a man of faith, he believed very strongly in helping those in need, particularly the hungry. We ask that, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Peter's Episcopal Church Food Pantry, or any other food pantry/bank – no one should go hungry. There will be a visitation at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, (925 Mitchell Street, Conway, Ark. 72034, (501) 329-8174, on Tuesday, April 3, from 9-10 a.m., a Memorial Service from 10-11 a.m. and a reception afterwards. All are welcome to attend. Online Guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/conway.
