John Harold Haverstick

John Harold Haverstick, 76, of Augusta passed away in his home with his wife by his side. He was born September 17, 1941 in Columbia, Lancaster County), Pennsylvania to the late John R. and Emma Barton Haverstick. He is a 1959 Columbia High School graduate. John came to Augusta for two weeks with Grinnel Corporation of Columbia and went back to Columbia and ask immediately how he could be transferred to the Augusta plant. His love of the White River drew him to Augusta and he never stayed away for long. After Grinnel was sold to NIBCO, John was then transferred to Reynosa, Mexico. (He was a master patterns maker.) He retired from NIBCO after 33 ½ years. He later went to work for Sloan Value in Augusta where he spent 18 years and approximately 22 years at Eldridge Supply. He is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memories are his loving family: wife, Frances Garner Haverstick of 38 years, sons, John A. (Robin) Haverstick and Jerry Haverstick, sisters, Shirley (Larry) Basham of Maytown, Pennsylvania and Velma Ruth of Mount Joy Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Jeremy Haverstick, Stephanie Perry and three great-grandchildren Jaedon Stracner, Keaton Allen and Charleigh Perry, and a host of family and friends who mourn his passing. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michaiel North, Dr. Eric Robinson of Searcy and especially Legacy Hospice and staff of Wynne for their great services they provide to people in a time of need. The pallbearers are Chester Green, Edward Smith, Dewitt Fortune, Keith Wood, Roger Hicks, Phillip Hyatt, and Noah Higginbotham. The minister is Bro. Cory Cobb. The speakers are Michael John Gray, Benny Hargrove, Rebekkah Ladd, and Charlie Eldridge. The visitation will be Friday, May 4, 2018 6 to 8 p.m. at Rhodes and Son Chapel. The funeral will follow on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Rhodes and Son Chapel. Interment will be held at Augusta Memorial Park. Services entrusted to Rhodes and Son Funeral Home.
