E. Glenn Huffman

E. Glenn Huffman, one of five children, was born December 6, 1925 to Robert and Cora Huffman in Hickory, North Carolina. He spent his early years in an orphanage, and later in foster homes. At the age of 18, he was drafted into the U. S. Navy, serving during WWII. During the Battle of Leyte Gulf, his ship, the USS Samuel B. Roberts was sunk, and he spent 52 hours in the Pacific Ocean before being rescued. Throughout his lifetime, he was proud of having served his country, and in later years, shared his experiences with many fellow Americans. Following his discharge, he settled in Illinois, where he met and married Delores Newman, and their home was blessed with one son, Michael Huffman, who survives. In Illinois, Glenn worked for the General Telephone Company for 33 years, retiring at management level in Kewanee, Ill. In retirement, Glenn and Delores moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where they were both active in community service projects. They enjoyed square-dancing and golf. Following the passing of Delores in 1998, Glenn met the second love of his life, JoAnn Kilpatrick and they enjoyed 18 wonderful years together. In addition to JoAnn, he dearly loved her two daughters Linda (Mark) Allert and Laura (Bob) Kozarek, all of whom survive. He was blessed with seeing Linda's two daughters, Kristin and Jordan Barbe, grow into fine, lovely young ladies, who also survive. Additional survivors include sisters-in-law, Peggy Newman and Joan Huffman. Preceding him in death were his parents, his siblings, and his wife Delores. A service will be held in Bella Vista, Ark., on Monday, May 14th at 11 a.m. at the Bella Vista Community Church. There will be no visitation, and memorials may be directed to the Bella Vista Community Church or the Bella Vista Lions Club. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 share memories at www.moorefuneral.com.
