Sada Lee "Sadie" Posey Varnell, 91, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, peacefully went with the Angels to meet her Heavenly Father, Monday, May 14, 2018, at her daughter's home. She celebrated her last Mother's Day surrounded by family and friends before her heavenly homecoming. Sadie was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas, on November 24, 1926, and lived there with her parents Carroll Amos and Angie Lee Posey and her three siblings. In 1945, Sadie met and married Clause Ira Varnell. She was a devoted wife, mother and caregiver. She cared for many children and influenced their lives with her motherly hugs and encouraging sprit. She was a servant of God and devout to the Nazarene Faith. In her younger years, she served her church in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher and choir director. She took great pride in her community and neighborhood. Sadie loved her family and friends and enjoyed making baked goods for them. Her specialties were millionaires, sugar cookies, chocolate covered pretzels and divinity. She loved music and passed along her musical talent to her great granddaughter, Peyton. She also organized the Dollarway Neighborhood Watch and was an Honorary member of the Citizen Police Academy Alumni. She entered the heavenly gates to be greeted by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Gloria "Dianne" Varnell, an infant son, Claude Ira Varnell, Jr., her sister, Pauline Posey Kinsey, her two brothers, J. W. Posey and Carroll Posey. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Varnell Greenwood of Hensley, grandson, Brooks "Landon" Greenwood and his wife, Allison, of North Little Rock, great-granddaughter, Peyton and great-grandsons, Brantley and Hudson. She cherished special relationships with nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Sadie loved her family and had a contagious zest for life. She was an avid gardener, a devout Christian, a wonderful cook, a committed caregiver and encourager to all who were blessed to know her and a talented musician who loved to sing and play the piano. We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated healthcare teams of St. Vincent's Hospital and Rehab, Kindred Home Health, and Arkansas Hospice, as well as her close friends and neighbors from Pine Bluff who brightened her last days with their constant love and support. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 1 p.m. with the funeral services immediately following at 2 p.m. at Ralph Robinson and Son, 807 South Cherry Street, Pine Bluff, Ark. 71601.
