Clarence E. Jester

Clarence E. Jester age 95, of Curtis community near Arkadelphia, went quietly to his eternal home on May 23, 2018 at CHI St. Vincent in Little Rock. He was born May 13, 1923 to Fines and Ermia Jester in Montgomery County, near the area of Lucky, Ark. and Pigeon Roost Mountain. His paternal grandparents were William R. and Harriet Short Jester. His maternal grandparents were Lewis Clark and Tilda Thomas story. As a young boy he moved with his family to Clark County where other siblings of his family had gone for work, There he met Lorene Freeman, daughter of Ambrose and Verna Cox Freeman and they married on July 19, 1941 and lived there for 66 years together, where I time he built the Clarence Jeater Logging Business, assisted be his wife, Lorene until they retired after forty years, with the logging tradition continued by their son, Bobby Jester and now by his grandson, Kevin Jester. They were active members of Curtis Assembly of God where Clarence served as deacon and Sunday School superintendent for many years. He was veteran of WW II serving in the Big Red 1st infantry. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 66 years, Lorene Freeman Jester; one son, Clarence E. Jester Jr.; siblings, Wilburn Jester, Lucille Purifoy, Retha Wells, Bennie Sue Batchelor, Clinton Jester, Lyvone Crossley, ; and great-granddaughter Abby Lynn Erington. Survivors are two sons, Larry (Cynthia) Jester and Bobby Jester; four grandchildren, Autumn DeLaughter, Janae (Steve) Richerson, Kevin (Heidi) Jester, and Jennifer (Stuart) Edrington; ten great-grandchildren, Trent and Cole Edrington, Cuttter, Jaycee and Lizzie Beth Jester, kEric, Jacob (Elisabeth), Justin, Neva and Lannie Richerson; one great-great grandson, Tyler Marshall Richerson; two brothers, James and Almon Jester; two sisters, Freda Vanlandingham and Geraldine Francis; many nieces and nephews. Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Kevin Jester officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Trent Edrington, Cole Edrington, Cutter Jester, John Higgs, Kenneth Jester and Keith Jester.
