Bonnie June Brooks, age 90, of Springdale Arkansas went to be with the Lord, Thursday, November 1, 2018. She was born on September 29, 1928 in Dexter, Missouri, the daughter of Matie Lynn Boone and Henry Elsie Boone. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Ruth and one brother, Wayne D. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Marshall Brooks, four children, Marsha Jones and husband Hartzell, Wayne Brooks and wife Marilynn, David Brooks, Daughter-in-law Lori Brooks, John Brooks and wife Tammy. Bonnie is survived by 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild. She had many friends near and far. Of special note is friend and caretaker Lorene Cole. Bonnie, along with her husband Marshall, recently moved to Northwest Arkansas to be closer to family. Bonnie grew-up in Dexter, Missouri, but spent the majority of her adult life living in Webster Groves, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Bonnie excelled as a teacher of mathematics at the middle school and Junior High Level in the Kirkwood School District. She also authored resource materials for teachers of mathematics. Bonnie instilled a love of the arts in all of her children. She enjoyed attending and supporting the Opera Theater of St. Louis, Dance St. Louis, Fox Theater, and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. During her brief time living in Arkansas, she attended performances of the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, the Arts Center of the Ozarks and the Walton Arts Center. She was a devoted Christian and was involved in the First Congregational Church of Webster Groves. When visiting her daughter she would attend the First Methodist Church of Springdale. Bonnie's favorite sports pastime was attending or watching Cardinal baseball games. She shared this passion with her father as a child and passed on her loyalty to the Cardinals to her children and grandchildren. Later in life, she became an avid Razorback football fan and attended several Bowl games. Bonnie enjoyed playing the piano, the organ, dancing, playing bridge, family vacations, camping, water skiing, and visiting national parks across the United States. After her retirement, she and her husband traveled the world and visited all seven continents. As a very accomplished pianist, she was often called upon to play at the family reunion church services. Bonnie was supported in her last year of life by an amazing group of people at the Primrose Retirement Community and Circle of Life. Bonnie's family is eternally grateful for the loving care and concern she received from the staff. A celebration of Life is planned for Friday, November 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Springdale, Arkansas. She will be interred November 19, 2018 at the Brooks family cemetery, Forever Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirkwood, Missouri, at 2:30 p.m. under the direction of Hoffmeister Colonial Funeral Home.
