Billie Zack Mahaffy

Billie Zack Mahaffy, 91, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, September 13, 2018 at home. She was born February 16, 1927 in Pine Bluff, daughter of Peter and Mary Fotiades Zack. Mrs. Mahaffy was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. She attended Chevy Chase Junior College in Washington, D.C. and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Altar Guild. She was also a member of St. Elizabeth's Guild, sustaining member of the Junior League of Pine Bluff and former sustaining member of Junior Mathontes. Her favorite volunteer work was with Jenkins Memorial Center. The children helped her more than she helped them. She felt a strong commitment to them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Price Mahaffy Jr., whom she married September 29, 1951 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Pine Bluff; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Dr. Peter B. H'Doubler. Survivors include two sons, Edward P. Mahaffy (Denise) of Little Rock and Peter Zachary Mahaffy (Desiree) of White Hall; grandchildren, Mary Caitlin Mahaffy of Bloomington, Indiana, William Edward Mahaffy of Little Rock, Zachary Cole Mahaffy of White Hall and Madelyn Elizabeth Mahaffy of White Hall, nieces and nephews, Mary Triffany Cook of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Peter B. H'Doubler of Atlanta and Dr. William Z. H'Doubler of Roanoke, Virginia. A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, September 21, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal Church with The Reverend Darrell Stayton officiating. Interment will be private. A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church.
