Clyde Ernest Herndon

Clyde Ernest Herndon of Centerton went to be with his Lord on September 19, 2018. He was born on April 7, 1932 in Tulsa, Okla. To the late Ernest and Eunice Herndon. Clyde was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served overseas in the Korean War. During his time in Northwest Arkansas, both he and his wife, Virginia, worked as custodians in the Gravette Public Schools. He was a member of God's Lighthouse Church in Bentonville, and acted as church treasurer for many years. He will be remembered as a faithful Christian. His survivors include his wife, Virginia Estes Herndon, whom he married on June 15, 1956 in Tulsa; children, Steven Herndon (Debbie) of Centerton, Karen Spurlock (Steven) of Huntsville, Jeffrey Herndon (Kim) of Nolensville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shandale Herndon, Heather Jenkins, Christopher Herndon, Dereck Herndon, Kristy Sapp, Andrea Taylor, Ron Hatfield, Dayton Herndon; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Wanda Downen and Barbara Herndon, both of Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant daughter, Cathy Sue Herndon. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 21 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Funeral services at 10 a.m. on Saturday at God's Lighthouse, 2803 SW 14th St, Bentonville. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Barnsdall, Okla.
