Ivan H. Haggard

Ivan H. Haggard, 86, passed away on December 4, 2019 at his home in Bentonville. He was born on August 5, 1933 in Gravette to the late Audrey and Bessie (Willis) Haggard. He was the husband of Donna (Simpson) Haggard for 44 years. Ivan loved people and would always instigate pranks whenever he was around someone, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and was a very talented woodworker known for building birdhouses. He also loved spending time with his family. He always made the most of life and lived in the moment. He retired from Walmart and earned a Sam Walton Humanitarian award for his compassionate willingness to care for people in the community. He even assisted in saving an associate's life once at PMDC (Printing Solutions) in the 80's. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bentonville. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Virgil, Clifford and Lee Haggard; and sisters, Alberta Smith and Esther Gailey. He is survived by his wife, Donna of Bentonville; sons, Jeff Haggard (Linda) of Bella Vista, David Ward of Bentonville, Rick Ward of Rogers; daughters, Dana Newman (Rusty) of Bentonville, and Julie Ellis of Georgia; sisters, Betty Rakes, Liz Smith, Lavonne Patton, Joyce Couch, Gerry Crawford; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. His visitation will be on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 1-3 pm in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of his life will be on Monday, December 9 at 11 a.m. in the Rollins Chapel, casual dress.
