PAUL ANTHONY VEACH, MD, 59, of Maumelle, Ark., entered into the arms of his loving Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 16, 2019 after his courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 16,1959 in Marietta, Ohio, to Clinton and Edith Veach and was the youngest of six children. He grew up in a small Ohio town on the Ohio River. In high school, he excelled in both academics and sports. He entered the United States Air Force in 1976 and served at Robins AFB, Warner Robins, Ga., as a Paramedic and was on the Presidential Support team of President Jimmy Carter. He met his wife Rachel, while attending Bible Baptist Temple and they married in August of 1980. He was later transferred to Shaw AFB in Sumter, S.C., where he was attached to the 17th tactical fighter squadron. During his service at Shaw he deployed to Norway for a search and rescue mission, and to Saudi Arabia for desert rescue operations. He was honorably discharged in 1988, and entered the University of South Carolina, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He was accepted into the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, graduating as class president in his senior year and accepted to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Emergency Medicine Residency Program where he became board certified as an Emergency Room Physician and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. His career in medicine brought him much joy. He loved rural people and spent the majority of his career in hospital emergency departments as the Medical Director in several rural facilities. He served as the Chief Medical Officer with the Schumacher Group and as Senior Vice President of Clinical affairs for Hospital Physicians Partners as an Emergency Department Efficiency Expert. He served as one of two Counselors for Arkansas chapter of American College of Emergency Physicians. God was the center of his life and he loved and lived his life by the Bible. He was a devoted Christian serving God for his entire adult life. He taught adult Sunday School for 25 years and served as a minister of music for 20 years. He recorded 4 music CDs with his wife. He authored a travel guide to Israel and two books of poetry; "All I Hold Dear" and "Living Waters or Broken Cisterns". His fourth book "A Walk in the Valley of Baca" will be published soon. He was a man of great humor and delighted in making people laugh. After reading the book, "The Greatest Miracle", by Og Mandino, his mission in life was to help those who were broken and hurting, and called himself a "rag picker" of people. His life way mark was, "I am first a servant, living my life in the service of others. I will live a life of integrity, seeking to honor God, my family, and my country. I will live a passionate life and seek to encourage others. Through a close relationship with God I will put aside fear and anger and instead, live a life filled with gratitude and humor. I am a rag picker." He enjoyed Razorback football and was a Broyles Silver donor for many years. One of his passions in life was travel and he saw much of the world, but his greatest love was Israel and her people. He hosted more than 15 tours to Israel. He was a loving husband and father working to provide for his family monetarily but most importantly spiritually. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Rachel and his 5 children, a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law. Regina Kirkman (Samuel), Jonathan (Rachel Anne Marie), Laura, Stephen, and Jessica.
