Carl Winston Johnson, 79, passed away peacefully October 28, 2020, at his home in Jacksonville, Ark. He was born March 3, 1941, in Bald Knob, Ark., the son of Carl William and Bonnie Mae Johnson. Winston was a talented athlete at Bald Knob High School, and was voted "Wittiest" in his class in 1959. After High School, he met the love of his life, Linda Sue Green, and married August 3, 1962. Winston enlisted in the United Stated Army soon after, where he served bravely in Korea and Vietnam during a 22-year career. He was a 2-time Bronze Star recipient and retired as Master Sargent. After retirement and moving back to Arkansas, he found his home in Jacksonville, where he and Linda built their dream home and have spent many joyous years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Wayne Johnson. Winston is survived by his wife Linda; brothers, Nolan Arthur Johnson (Charlotte), Verlyn Lee Johnson (Rose); children, Carla Anne Starks (Richard), Kelley Lynn Rollins (Tony), John David Johnson (Susan). He was also a proud grandfather to Kyle, Paige, Kennedy, Jake, and great-grandfather to Roman. A service and remembrance will be held at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, in North Little Rock, on Monday, November 2, at 10 a.m. A visitation will be held prior on Sunday, November 1, from 5-7 p.m., at Roller-Owens Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. COVID restrictions require that all attendees provide and wear masks during attendance.
