Margaret Adele Stockley Gregory

Margaret Adele Stockley Gregory, resident of Little Rock, and former resident of Augusta, departed this life on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, from the Presbyterian Village of Little Rock, at the age of 97. She was born on February 27, 1923, in Memphis, Tenn., and was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma Ridgway Stockley. Mrs. Gregory graduated from Marion High School, where she was a fierce guard for the girls' high school basketball team. She went on to complete her education at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, with a Bachelor's Degree in English graduating Summa Cum Laude. She was president of the Chi Omega sorority and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. After graduating, she was a stewardess/flight attendant for Chicago and Southern Airways. In 1947, she married Mr. Noel Kennady Gregory. They made their home and raised their four children on the family farm near Gregory. Mrs. Gregory was a faithful member of the Augusta First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was available for anything that needed to be done. She obtained a Private Pilot's License in case she needed to assist Mr. Noel during a flight. Mrs. Gregory was a member of the Woodruff County Library Board, East Regional Library Board, the State Library Board and led the Red Cross Swimming Program, at the Augusta Beach for several years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, walking, swimming and playing bridge with her friends. She was an expert lawn mower, weed eater, cheerleader for her children, and a happy chauffeur for them. Mrs. Gregory is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Nathan Gregory, Minor Gregory, a son-in-law, Skip Arnim, two brothers, Harry Stockley, James Stockley, two sisters, Mary East and Betty Mitchell. She is survived by one son, Noel Gregory of Houston, Texas, one daughter, Betsy Arnim of Little Rock, two daughters-in-law, Brenda Gregory of Prescott, Ariz., Emily Gregory of Little Rock, a sister-in-law, Tommie Stockley of Marion, Ark., fourteen grandchildren, Stuart Gregory of Houston, Texas, Nathan Gregory (Adrianne) of Houston, Texas, Clayton Gregory of Atlanta, Ga., Stephen Gregory of Houston, Texas, Noel Arnim (Emily) of Evergreen, Colo., Kristen Arnim of Scottsdale, Ariz., Rees Arnim of Houston, Texas, David Arnim (Katherine Ann) of Evergreen, Colo., Sam Arnim (Hanna) of North Little Rock, Wade Gregory (Jenny) of Little Rock, Sarah Frascone of Prescott, Ariz., Cliff Gregory of Nashville, Tenn., Abby Armstrong (Will) of Dallas, Texas, Margaret Hart (Tom) of Nashville, Tenn., fourteen great-grandchildren, and a very special, lifetime friend, Marci Smith of Little Rock. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, November 1, at the Augusta Memorial Park Cemetery, with Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of McCrory, in charge of the arrangements. Friends may visit beginning at 1:30 p.m., at the Augusta Memorial Park, until service time. Memorials may be made to the Augusta First Baptist Church, 310 Pearl Street, Augusta, Ark., 72006; Presbyterian Village, 510 Brookside Drive, Little Rock, Ark., 72205; Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Ark., 72116; or the Woodruff County Library, 201 Mulberry Street, Augusta, Ark., 72006. Mrs. Gregory's family is so grateful to three fine ladies who looked after our Mother so that she was able to stay in the family home for a few more years. Thank you to Mona Woodell, Betty Wells and Barbara Mosby and also to Jim Hunter, who was her faithful driver. They were faithful to give her such loving care. The family of Mrs. Gregory gives thanks to all the staff at Presbyterian Village and Arkansas Hospice for their kind, attentive, excellent care of her.
