Lean proteins, like beef or pork tenderloin (shown), chicken or fish, along with fresh vegetables and whole grains are the building blocks of the most popular and healthy diets for 2014. Simple ingredients, prepared with simple techniques such as roasting or braising, add little fat and great depth of flavor from herbs and other seasonings. Finding as many of these ingredients locally, sometimes known as “Farm to Table,” is the number one restaurant trend for 2014.
