Food: Argenta Seafood Co.'s menu features fish. Lots of fish. Fish-based appetizers, fish-based soups, salads that can be upgraded with shrimp or lump crab for an extra $1.50-$2, sides of mostly shellfish and fish entrees. Those who don't like seafood are welcome, but menu choices are limited to salads and the one chicken or two steak choices, like a sufficient prime rib. We'd recommend starting a meal with one of the menu's sides ($8-$14) of raw, fried, blackened or steamed seafood, like the Black Mussels ($7), one pound of savory steamed shellfish soaking in a flavorful tomato broth, or perhaps creamy, chunky Clam Chowder ($6) studded with potatoes. The Bouillabaisse ($18), made with 10 kinds of seafood (scallops, shrimp, mussels, clams, calamari, octopus, sole, tilapia, mahi-mahi and red snapper) was a pleasant way to warm up on a wintry evening. Less-successful dishes were the salty Conch Fritters, thin, somewhat fishy Shrimp Bisque and desserts cloaked in raspberry sauce without warning.
Mood: Sitting in a modern, open seafood restaurant with yellow walls, bold abstract sea-life paintings, an aquarium projection over the host station and pointy suspended white room dividers that resemble waves, it's hard to believe you're dining in Arkansas. In North Little Rock, no less. With a fresh look, Argenta Seafood Co. (owned by Eric and Brian Isaac, who run Ristorante Capeo down the street) also maintains a festive vibe and fairly loud volume. Seating is at wood tables and chairs and half-banquettes. When the weather is warm enough to open the restaurant's large side garage doors, there will be an outdoor eating area, too. Service is friendly.
