Bangkok Thai Cuisine is a rather colorful kiosk in the River Market's
Ottenheimer Market Hall. The food is demonstrably authentic - the
people doing the cooking are unquestionably Thai - and, for the most
part, it's pretty tasty. And it can be as spicy - or not spicy - as
you want it.
Bangkok Thai has been around a few months with a limited number of
available items, with the game plan always being that the rest of the
menu would flesh out in the summer when the influx of tourists made it
worthwhile. Certain items on the menu board were only available from a
special-order menu if you called far enough ahead.
That fleshing out has occurred, and you can now get just about
everything that was initially promised, including spring rolls and
satay. Thank goodness the proprietors have ditched the original plan
to vend stuff cafeteria-style; that means you'll have to wait several
minutes for most items, which are prepared to order, but almost
everything we tried was worth the wait.
