El Dorado has acquired a little bit of age-related patina.
That's the restaurant on Asher Avenue, pronounced El Dor-AH-do, not to be mistaken for the south Arkansas town with the same spelling but a long "A" in the middle. ("City of gold" rather than "city of oil.")
The restaurant is heading toward a comfortable shabbiness, though it isn't completely there yet. Duct tape patches a few splits in the vinyl banquettes, and the management has put little round stickers, now starting to fade, with new prices over superseded ones on the somewhat battered menus rather than print new ones.
