At the end of a small strip center smack dab in the middle of Gravel Ridge sits The Meat Shoppe, an unassuming little restaurant/butcher shop that offers a wide variety of meats, plate lunches and sandwiches.
Upon entering the restaurant, you'll see five or six tables huddled in the middle of the room for those who'd rather dine in than carry out. A refrigerated meat case lines the back wall and part of the left, and the rest is taken up by a steam table holding cooked vegetables and meats for sale by the pound.
The ribs were finger-licking, meat-falling-off-the-bone good. The outside was coated with a dry rub, which made them flavorful and chewy, and the inside was pink and smoky. The chopped pork was tender and lightly smoky, and the slightly tangy barbecue sauce was a perfect complement.
