The mock-Australian motif carries over to the printed menu, where the below-$15 dishes introduced last month are marked with icons in the shape of tiny boomerangs.
Never mind that there's hardly any distinctively Aussie flavor to Outback's food. Even the rack of lamb hails from South Pacific neighbor New Zealand.
Never mind that the faux-Australian touches in the decor, such as the occasional boomerang on the wall, look to be straight out of a restaurant-supply catalog.
Never mind that one of Outback's specialty cocktails is burdened with a terminally abominable pun: The Wallaby Darned.
Never mind that the signature Bloomin' Onion appetizer has been calculated to contain more than 2,000 calories.
