About this place
Shotgun Dan's "Where the Best Meets the West."
We think the slogan has something to do with the pizza joint's frontier theme. Its restaurants, in Little Rock, North Little Rock and Sherwood, look a bit like Wild West saloons, or to the untrained eye, tractor emporiums.
At the Sherwood eatery off Kiehl Avenue, old mirrors advertising "Winchester Repeating Arms" and "Samuel Smith's Bitter Busch" adorn the wooden walls, and we'd bet the wall behind them is at least two shades lighter.
Part of the restaurant's appeal is its lack of pretension. Pizzas like the Loaded Barrel with beef, sausage, pepperoni, onion, green pepper and mushrooms, have crispy crusts and generous toppings. Those who want more meat can opt for a Big Dan with Canadian bacon, beef, sausage and pepperoni. Then there's the Garden Patch, which has an assortment of rabbit food, ahem, vegetables.
Specialty pizzas, the ones with the fun names, cost $11.95 for 10 inches; $13.95 for 13 inches or $16.95 for 16 inches.
