Russellville defeats Beebe in first round

Russellville took 49-37 victory against the Beebe Lady Badgers in the first round of the Heavenly Hoops Tournament at Mount St. Mary in Little Rock on Monday. The Lady Cyclones made six field goals after leading 28-24 with 5:10 left in the third quarter -- after hitting just four in the first quarter and half -- and hit their free throws down the stretch to ice the victory. “I think both teams were a little off to start the game,” Russellville Coach Steve Wiedower said.
Star City puts away Malvern

McGehee gets hot in 4th quarter to win

Depending on how one looks at it, the Star City Bulldogs picked a bad time to get cold or the Mc-Gehee Owls (23-2 ) picked a great time to get hot. Either way, the Owls won the rubber match of their three-game series this season with a 63-54 victory over Star City in the semifinals of the Class 4A South region.
Star City holds off Malvern

The Star City Bulldogs led by as much as 28-18 in their 51-47 victory over the Malvern Leopards on Thursday. But to say they were in control would be a misrepresentation of their 4A-South Region game Thursday at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock. “Gosh almighty we did everything we could to lose this game,” Star City Coach Joshua Brown said.

Six minutes into his team’s 53-35 victory over Warren on Thursday, Malvern Coach Jess Martin wasn’t thinking about a 20-point blowout. At least not being on the winning end of one. The Lady Leopards missed their first 8 shots and 13 of their first 14 as Warren jumped out to an 8-2 lead with 2:38 remaining in the first quarter of their first-round Class 4A South Regional game at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock.
