While charging sales tax to online vendors would definitely stop the money loss for state and local taxes, it is not going to stop sales losses for small vendors. The convenience of shopping from home, in most case free shipping, variety of items available vs. driving, time, fuel cost, limited choices, etc still will make online shopping a preference.
