Feelings mixed on Obama visit to hard-hit Vilonia May 7, 2014 at 9:53 p.m.

I can not believe how bitter and hateful some of you are. The President of the United States takes time to visit you in your hour of despair and all you think about he has an agenda. And some say just send me a check but you are the same group that says government is too large. Well, just stay bitter. The rest of us will be grateful and move on!

Foundation ranks Arkansas 2nd-highest in U.S. for sales taxes August 29, 2013 at 9:50 p.m.

I live in the Dallas area and the sales tax is 8.25 but my property tax on a $200,000 home is over $4300. When you retire I would rather pay a higher sales tax than a higher property tax.

NRA calls for armed guards in schools, taps Hutchinson to lead plan December 21, 2012 at 6:27 p.m.

Since the dawn of man there always existed men who were evil and committed to harming others. Today we have provided those individuals with assault rifles and ammo clips that allows them to shoot a gun with multiple rounds. The answer by the NRA to make our schools Beirut style villages is not surprising. They are funded by the very same gun manufacturers that these evil men use to harm others. The NRA also preys on individuals with the fear that Uncle Sam is going to take away their hunting rifles and hand guns and will profit greatly asking these "plain folk" to contribute to the cause.

We don't need any assault rifles on the street and also don't need those guns that use those extended ammo clips. I have yet to see a hunter in the woods armed with one for the purpose of hunting. We will never be able to completely keep terrorist from harming another school, mall or church but hopefully we will stop making it easy for them to shoot dozens of people in a few seconds!

Bielema named head coach at Arkansas December 4, 2012 at 4:25 p.m.

This was not Longs 5th or 6th pick! He must have been on his radar from day 1 and is an interesting hire. Bielema has been successful at Wisc with limited resources so no telling what he can do here with unlimited resources. We know he can produce NFL linemen and likes running the ball and when he has a QB likes to have a balanced attack. No one expected this hire so everyone is still trying to digest it but overall we got a winning coach. Hopefully this yankee will pan out like Saban, Miles and Meyer's did.

Smith out as Arkansas coach November 24, 2012 at 9:08 p.m.

Before we all put Long in front of a firing squad lets wait and see who he picks as our new HC in the next week. I like everyone else have my favorites and must hires and I also have coaches who I feel will not succeed. These are my opinions but I'm not researching these coaches and can't make an educated evaluation so lets just let the man do his job.

Lee feels pressure, backs off from UA June 15, 2012 at 9:41 a.m.

This is contrary to what most recruits do. They commit early to stop all the distractions so it appears to me he is looking forward to be courted by others!

The Walton's also have Chinese swamp land for sale!

LIKE IT IS: Petrino working to put Hogs on solid ground May 13, 2009 at 12:23 p.m.

Dodd's article was for the most part very good, but he is part of a network of sports writers who are not very objective. To keep harping on Petrino's departure from the Falcons and being the poster boy for changing jobs is not fair. I believe Saban has left more head-coaching jobs than Petrino but nothing is mentioned about that! It's almost like they want to sabotage his recruiting efforts to prove their point.

Another problem I have with Dodd is his criticism of the SEC. Reporting for CBS which one might consider the flagship network of the SEC, he usually finds fault with most teams and lately, talks up the Big XII. I hope who ever is in charge of negotiating the TV contracts for the SEC is able to bring this up and arrange for more money from the network.
