Bryant officer kills fugitive in shootout; state police investigate

I'm glad the Officer is going to be OK. Glad the suspect wont be hurting any more innocent people. And lastly, glad the state wont be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on trials and incarceration of this individual. Way to go Bryant PD!

Stodola delivers State of the City address

I think that the Mayor is absolutly right on the mark here. The problem is repeat offenders that are not being properly supervised by the Department of Community Corrections. DCC needs new leadership!

Beebe vetoes Senate-proposed voter ID bill

I was issued a voter registration card when I registered.. why cant that be accepted? They only let you vote once in the election with it. They check your name off. Why do you need to show a drivers license? I mean a photo id is OK with me...but seems like citizens shouldn't be charged for the ID to vote (unless you are trying to keep the poor from voting) and it will cost the government more money if they/we pay for the ID. I thought the republicans were for saving money?

Beebe vetoes 20-week abortion bill

Thanks Gov. Beebe. I think you are one of the few at the Capitol that has any sense left.

Springdale man gets 9 years in firearm case

If ALL of the US Attorneys would prosecute these cases crime would dramatically decrease. All I hear is that we need more gun control but the federal government won't prosecute the real criminals.

Beebe opposes bill on secret gun-permit list

The reason for so much concern in New York was the lack of guns in homes and making the listed ones easy targets. Pick any house or vehicle in Arkansas and there is probably a gun in it.

Bill has FBI, others obtain sheriffs’ OK

Altes said none of the sheriffs in the state’s 75 counties has contacted him to signify their support for the bill. Altes says he can’t remember who asked him to file the legislation, but he’s pretty sure someone had wanted it introduced. Who elected this guy?

Clerk shot during attempted robbery at LR store

I agree with Tesbrown. I have noticed in the past several months that the apartment complex across the street from the E Z Mart has been allowing people to gather in groups and hang out. The car wash behind E Z Mart is also becoming a hangout spot. It used to be a really good area. It seems that there have been alot of armed robberies in the area lately. I don't know if it is different management of the apartments or what, but I do not use the area stores anymore because of the danger.

Alexander police officer shoots man

Why does the state of Arkansas continue to allow individuals to work as police officers for up to eighteen months with no training? I mean, is it really a smart idea to just give someone a badge, gun and a car that will go over 120 mph with no training on how to use them. It's not safe for the officer or the community.
