Elaine massacre defendants become part of civil rights trail

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s annual Arkansas Civil Rights Heritage Trail Induction Ceremony was held Tuesday morning in downtown Little Rock. Inducted were the twelve exonerated defendants from the 1919 Elaine Massacre. On hand were descendants of the defendants as well as UALR faculty and staff and local politicians. Imbedded circular markers were unveiled on the sidewalk of Clinton Avenue in the River Market area of Little Rock.
