Mark Guffin, Sr, Little Rock Christian

An Alabama signee, Guffin was the state’s top shot put and discus thrower this spring. Guffin’s season was highlighted by the longest discus throw in Arkansas high school history - 195 feet, 2 inches - at the Vilonia Relays on March 28 at Vilonia High School. Guffin won the Class 5A title (158-9) and the Meet of Champs title (183-8). Guffin also was the Class 5A champion in the shot (54-0.25) and Meet of Champs (53-8). He led the state with a best throw of 54-6.25.
