Central High events close roads; shuttle to run

— Various road closures will be in effect today through Tuesday around Little Rock Central High School for events related to the 50th anniversary of its desegregation.

Free shuttle service will be provided to the Central Visitor Center dedication today and the commemoration ceremony Tuesday from the State Fairgrounds at Roosevelt and Howard streets.

However, the service will be available only to people with a ticket for that event.

Shuttle service will run from about 7:30-9 a.m. and will resume at the conclusion of the ceremonies until 3 p.m. Transportation for the disabled will be provided, and only service animals are allowed.

Bottled water will be distributed free at the site of the events.

All bags will be subject to a security check, and duffle bags, luggage and backpacks will not be allowed.

Confiscated items will not be returned.

Other items not allowed at the events include:

Coolers.

Beverages, bottles and cans.

Food.

Strollers and wagons.

Chairs.

Skateboards, bicycles and skates.

Horns and other noisemakers.

Weapons, knives, fireworks and sticks of any kind.
