LR Marathon field almost filled to limit

by Pete Perkins | February 24, 2008 at 6:15 a.m.

— This is a problem race directors don't mind.

Gina Pharis, who with Geneva Hampton is co-executive director of the Little Rock Marathon, said 1,513 have registered for the race scheduled to start at 8 a.m. next Sunday. Pharis said 87 more entries will be accepted.

"We have 1,600 medals," Pharis said. "We will have one for every person who finishes the race, so we're cutting it off at 1,600. I don't think we'll make it to the expo before we're sold out."

Pharis said the field is limited to the number of medals ordered.
