— The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for killing a Salvation Army Major in a Christmas Eve robbery attempt has reached $10,000, officials announced today.

The North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce is also continuing to take donations toward the fund, which was started to identify and locate whoever killed Maj. Philip Wise. He was fatally shot in front of his children during a robbery attempt Thursday outside the Salvation Army Corp. Community Center in North Little Rock. No arrests have been made.

Salvation Army officials, a group of North Little Rock pastors, local authorities and others announced the increased reward at a news conference this afternoon at the community center. The reward was $1,000.

Chief Danny Bradley said detectives worked through the holiday weekend but that there was no progress on the case that he could announce. He asked that anyone with information come forward.

"There are people within walking distance of this location where we are today that knows who committed this crime," Bradley said.

Donations toward the Major Phillip Wise Fund can be dropped off at Chamber headquarters at 100 Main St. in North Little Rock or mailed to P.O. Box 5288, North Little Rock, AR 72119.

A separate fund benefiting Wise's family has been set up at Centennial Bank. Donations to the Wise Family Memorial Fund can be made using account No. 500114452.

Anyone with information on the crime can call authorities at (501) 758-1234. Callers can remain anonymous.
