— Jessica Leigh Dean became the bride of Blake Spencer Rutherford at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the home of the bride’s parents. The Rev.

Harriett Akins-Banman of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church officiated.

Dr. and Mrs. David Melvin Dean, 10214 Cantrell Road, are the parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Royce Melvin Dean of El Dorado.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Luin Rutherford III, 5604 Hawthorne Road. His grandparents are Mr. James Luin Rutherford Jr. of Batesville, the late Mrs. Rutherford, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Byron Hill of Little Rock.

Vows were exchanged in the garden under a large tree decorated with an arrangement of roses, gardenias, orchids and hydrangeas. Music was by the Jarboe String Quartet.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless ivory charmeuse gown with a draped sweetheart bodice and dropped waistline. Her illusion veil was cathedral-length. She carried a bouquet of roses, orchids, gardenias, hydrangeas and fresh lavender in shades of ivory, champagne and blush.

Rachael Lauren Dean of Philadelphia served as her sister’s maid ofhonor. She wore a knee-length dress of champagne brocade with an Empire waist and full skirt. She carried a bouquet of roses, gardenias, orchids and hydrangeas.

Flower girl was Mary-Kathryn Royce Irby of Little Rock.

The father of the bridegroom served as best man.

Seating guests were David Jerome Campbell of Middlebury, Vt.; Anthony D’Avella and Robert William Johnson IV, both of New York; Andre Duchette of Brunswick, Maine; Zachary Nathan Tofias of Wayland, Mass.; and Christopher Wenger of Washington.

The buffet at a reception in the backyard was decorated with floral groupings of orchids, hydrangeas, dahlias and roses. Dozens of lanterns and candles lighted the reception area along with several chandeliers. Guest tables covered in gold pin-tuck taffeta linens were centered with candelabra, lanterns, moss, roses, orchids, dahlias, hydrangeas and apothecary jars. Music was by Memphis Soul Revue.

The bride graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California at Los Angeles with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She is a reporter for KATV, Channel 7.

The bridegroom graduated from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., with a degree in political science. He received his juris doctorate fromthe University of Arkansas School of Law. He is director of public communications for Stone Ward, publisher of the blog and host of Arkansas Sunday Edition With Blake Rutherford on KABZ-FM, 103.7, The Buzz.

After a wedding trip to Napa Valley, Calif., the couple will live in Little Rock.
