Cabot AARP hosting driver-safety course

— The local AARP Chapter and Cabot United Methodist Church at 2003 S. Pine St. will host an AARP Driver-Safety Course from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

The course is designed to teach techniques of safety to aging drivers. Students will learn coping skills for dealing with the fast pace of various traffic situations, ways to cope with loss of hearing and sight, and some new Arkansas laws will be presented.

Upon completion of the class, drivers age 55 years and older will be eligible for a discount on their automobile insurance. This was mandated by the Arkansas Legislature in 1992. Students need to contact their agent for specific details of the discount.

The instructor for the course is Phil Ross. To reserve a seat in the class, call Jean Davenport at (501) 843-5694. The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. Make checks payable to AARP. There will be no tests to complete the course.
