Entergy suggests going paper free

Entergy Arkansas is encouraging customers to “Go PaperFREE” for Earth Day, April 22.

PaperFREE billing means Entergy Arkansas does not mail a paper bill. Customers receive an e-mail notification each month to view their bills online. The service is offered to registered users of My Account Online, the company’s Internet-based transaction system.

“When it comes to their bill, we want our customers to take action that will make them feel good about the environment and be worry free, clutter free and postage free,” said Oscar Washington, customer service director, Entergy Arkansas, Inc. “With PaperFREE, customers have access to their account information online anytime without the processing and waste associated with a paper bill.”

According to research, if all U.S. households viewed and paid their bills electronically each year, it could save 18.5 million trees. It would also avoid 2.2 billion tons of toxic air pollutants and 1.7 billion pounds of solid waste, and save 15.8 billion gallons of water.

“It’s easy for customers to register for My Account Online. All they need is their account number and ZIP code from their bill,” added Jones. “They just go to entergy.com and select ‘My Account Online.’ They can select PaperFREE as part of the registration process. Or later, after adding an account, they can select PaperFREE from the bill delivery options.”

With My Account Online, encryption technology protects account information and makes it secure. Customers can do all basic account activity in My Account online – even arrange for a payment extension. An e-mail notifies them when their bill is ready and they can see and pay it online at any time. A cell phone text message or e-mail alert can remind them when their payment is due.

In addition, the company’s View Outages system offers online information about power outages, including outage status and estimated restoration time. Red or green lines and icons indicate power outages and how many customers are affected.

Entergy Arkansas, Inc. provides electricity to 687,000 customers in 63 counties.
