Two men abduct, kill woman before bank robbery, police say

Victim identified as 58-year-old Crossett woman

Authorities are looking for two men who are suspected of abducting a woman, fatally shooting her and then robbing a North Crossett bank Thursday morning.

The woman was identified as Donna J. Woodberry, 58, of Crossett.

Arkansas State Police say the two men abducted Woodberry from a local residence and drove her Nissan Altima to a location near the First National Bank branch on Highway 133 in North Crossett, where she was killed.

The men then held up the bank about 9:15 a.m. before fleeing north from the area in the stolen Altima.

Investigators found the car after 1:45 p.m. in an area north of town, police said. The men were nowhere to be found.

PREVIOUSLY:

Authorities are searching for a Nissan Altima used as the getaway vehicle in an Ashley County bank robbery Thursday morning.

The car was stolen at some point from a woman who was subsequently shot and killed, police said.

The 2003 model Altima is pewter in color and has a license plate reading "924 LNG." It also has a University of Arkansas - Monticello sticker in the left rear window.

The vehicle was last seen heading north on Highway 133.

The robbery occurred about 9 a.m. at a First National Bank branch in North Crossett. One suspect is described as a black man with short hair and no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a green shirt and blue jeans.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said no additional information on the car theft and shooting was yet available. It was not clear if those crimes occurred before or after the robbery.
