Small earthquakes felt in Faulkner County

by Gavin Lesnick | June 3, 2010 at 10:04 a.m.

— A series of small earthquakes have been felt in parts of Faulkner County Wednesday night and Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The strongest temblor registered a 2.0 on the Richter scale with its epicenter placed about four miles north of Guy. It occurred just after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

A 1.5-magnitude quake in the same region was reported about 20 minutes later. Two more quakes - each registering 1.7 on the Richter scale - were reported in the same area at about 3:50 a.m. and 6:50 a.m. Thursday.

Faulkner County Sheriff's Office Major Andy Shock said he knew of no reports of damage or other problems associated with the quakes. He said he did not feel the ground shaking at all in Conway, which is roughly 22 miles from the epicenters.
