Authorities today named the second suspect in the Dec. 24 killing of a Salvation Army major as a 20-year-old man who was fatally shot in a robbery two weeks after Christmas.

Brandon Leavy was killed by a security guard during the Jan. 7 robbery of Dodge's Chicken convenience store at 2910 E. Broadway St.

Investigators with the North Little Rock Police Department say Leavy was the other man present at the robbery and shooting of Maj. Phillip Wise, who was slain Dec. 24 in front of his three young children.

The other suspect, Laquan Javaris Fitzpatrick, 19, was arrested March 16 and faces charges of capital murder, aggravated robbery, residential burglary and two counts of theft of property.

Leavy was killed as he and Rodney Tyrone Townsend, 20, tried to rob the store, according to an arrest report. Leavy collapsed in the parking lot after being shot twice.

Townsend purportedly fled the scene but was located a short time later and arrested.
