Halter: Got momentum headed into runoff

Lt. Gov. Bill Halter is telling supporters he has the momentum on his side in his challenge to Sen. Blanche Lincoln in next month’s Democratic runoff.

Halter spoke Friday to a crowd of supporters before heading off on a tour of northeastern Arkansas. Halter launched the tour as Lincoln prepared to make a joint campaign appearance with former President Bill Clinton in Little Rock.

Halter did not refer to Clinton by name, but told supporters to not worry about Lincoln’s “establishment support.”

Halter planned to campaign in Batesville, Pocahontas, Paragould and Jonesboro on Friday.

The winner of the June 8 runoff will face Republican U.S. Rep. John Boozman in the fall.
