Storm recovery: How to help in Vilonia

by Arkansas Online | April 27, 2011 at 1:55 p.m.

The April 25 storm that killed four people in Vilonia also left the tiny town in tatters.

There are ways to help and receive aid, said Stephan Hawks, spokesman for Faulkner County.

For people who have been affected by the Vilonia-area storm who need assistance, the phone number to call is 501-615-4895. It will operate 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

For people who need supplies or want to donate supplies such as nonperishable items, clothing, fuel or items to help with the cleanup, etc., the number to call is 501-626-2093. They also may just go directly to the old Vilonia High School gymnasium off U.S. 64 and Highway 107. It will be open from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.

People who want to volunteer to help, should go to the Vilonia Primary School on U.S. 64. It will be open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Bring identification so that authorities can scan a driver's license or other identification and produce a volunteer badge to give volunteers a badge and the accompanying access needed to help.
