Man trying to fight refs arrested at children's football game

by Gavin Lesnick | August 29, 2011 at 8:01 a.m.

— A North Little Rock man was arrested over the weekend after he rushed onto the field at a children's football game and tried to fight the referees, authorities said.

Mark Grimes, 32, is facing a preliminary charge of disorderly conduct.

According to a North Little Rock Police Department arrest report, Grimes was at a Police Athletic League children's football game late Saturday morning when it happened. Police say Grimes was "abusive" and that he "entered onto the field during the game to fight the refs."

He was then arrested.

The report did not indicate what sparked Grimes' anger. The age of the children playing wasn't immediately clear.
