— The attorney for two former Tony Alamo followers says a request to reduce a $66 million judgment against the convicted evangelist minimizes the men’s suffering.

Spencer Ondrisek and Seth Calagna were awarded $33 million each by a jury that found Alamo ordered John Kolbek to beat them. Kolbek — who died in January — was ordered to pay each man $1.5 million.

Alamo attorney John Wesley Hall Jr. argues that the award against Alamo is unfair when compared with that against Kolbek.

The Texarkana Gazette reports that a motion by attorney David Carter says Kolbek’s actions “pales” when compared with Alamo and that Alamo orchestrated the abuse.

year prison term after being convicted of taking young girls across state lines for sex.
