Oxford American wins National Magazine Award

The Oxford American has won the National Magazine Award in the video category for its original video series.

The magazine received the award on Wednesday at a ceremony in New York for its video series titled “SoLost.” The series conveys a colorful portrayal of life in the South and is directed and photographed by Dave Anderson.

The magazine won the award over The New York Times Magazine, Slate, Entertainment Weekly and Chow. This is the second year “SoLost” was nominated for the National Magazine Award in the video category.

The Oxford American won the National Magazine Award for Best Single-Topic Issue in 1999 and 2004.

The magazine is based in Conway, and focuses on Southern writing and culture.
