Protesters arrested at anti-war rally in DC

Several dozen anti-war protesters, including the man who leaked the Pentagon Papers, are being arrested outside the White House.

Saturday’s arrests are part of demonstrations in Washington and throughout the country to mark the eighth anniversary of the Iraq war. The demonstrators cheered as Daniel Ellsberg, the leaker, was arrested.

The protesters carried signs demanding that troops be withdrawn from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Others supported Bradley Manning, the Army private suspected of leaking classified documents to Wikileaks. He is being held at a military prison in Virginia.

Similar protests marking the start of the Iraq war are also planned Saturday in Chicago, San Francisco and other cities. On Sunday, a protest will be held outside the brig where Manning is being held in Quantico, Va.
