A three-year-old boy was attacked by a dog yesterday morning, according to a report from the Baxter County sheriff's office.
Authorities received a call from Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home around 9 a.m. yesterday to report that a child was bitten by a dog.
Amber Moody said her son, Ryland Moody, was bitten by the family's nine-month-old pit bull terrier in the front yard. She said that she and a male friend took the child to the hospital.
Ryland had bite wounds on his face and around his head. He was taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital and rushed into surgery.
While the Humane Society has a policy of not giving pit bulls to families with children, Moody indicated "none" in the section of the form about children and adopted the dog from the society last month.
Authorities are investigating.
